At SWBC, we believe in giving back to people and communities in which we live and work. Since our inception in 1976, SWBC has been a leader in community involvement and growth. SWBC employees, through the SWBC Cares program, participate in a wide range of community activities in San Antonio and across the country, lending support to local, regional, and national causes.

Through all of our business growth and diversification, SWBC has always been dedicated to supporting the San Antonio community. When Charlie Amato and Gary Dudley moved SWBC to San Antonio in 1982, one of the things they noticed, respected, and liked about the city was that there was a culture of giving back to the community. And, like other leaders in the community, they proudly adopted that culture.
SWBC is proud to be a United Way Pacesetter company in San Antonio. SWBC Cares volunteers participate in Days of Caring and have supported the company’s annual campaign since 2001.
SWBC is also a partner in Junior Achievement and many of its events, including the annual Bowl-A-Thon, school mentors, Finance Park, and Shadow Day. Each year multiple SWBC teams participate in the Bowl-A-Thon and several employees volunteer as mentors in local classrooms, helping SWBC not only raise thousands of dollars to educate San Antonio students and build a stronger future, but we also invest time and talent.
We are proud to support many other organizations in San Antonio, including:
- Boy Scouts
- Cancer Therapy & Research Center at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio

On a national level, SWBC sponsors hundreds of sporting, nonprofit, civic, and leadership events.
In addition, SWBC has been instrumental in developing Credit Unions for Kids, a grass-roots program comprised of credit unions that raises money for Children’s Miracle Network. Today, Children’s Miracle Network’s Credit Unions for Kids program is endorsed by nearly all 50 state credit union leagues and is the charity of choice for America’s credit union movement. The success of this nationally-recognized credit union charity led to Charlie Amato’s involvement on the board of Children’s Miracle Network, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and held the positions of treasurer and finance committee chairman.
